Meet Solid Gold, they're an electronic trio from Minneapolis. Their music sounds very good, like if MGMT and Empire of the Sound formed a super band and made really mellow, awesome music. Ke$ha's debut single "Tik Tok" is blowing up hot right now, but what I've been blasting for the past couple days is actually another one of her tacks, called "Backstabber." The song is perfect, the chorus, the verses, the beat, the Ke$ha-isms, it's all just perfect. Check it out below. Warning: Addicting.
D Woods, from the used to be pop group Danity Kane, is getting ready to release her first solo album since the split, independently, sometime in December. The album is entitled "The Gray Area" and the cover is featured above. Not sure what to make of the album cover, it's pretty boring and a little too literal for me, but the first single "Legalize Me" is actually top notch in my book. Great hook, hot beat, sounds like a should be but probably won't be hit. Check it out below.
I'm still in disbelief that the Sugababes are no more; it's like Destinye's Child all over again, except I liked the new line up that time. I guess in a way this might actually be a blessing in disguise, since original member Mutya commented that she'd love to reunite with Keisha and Siobhan, the other original members; let me take a moment to compose myself because that statement made me feel a giddy. I seriously miss the old Sugababes; the "Run For Cover" version, or even the "Stronger" and "Ugly" version because I don't care much for this new "About A Girl" version. Well, oh well; c'est la vie. I'm excited to see what Keisha brings as a solo artist.
Attention: Lights debut abum "The Listening" is very good. Incredibly good. I've just gotten it this morning and have already played the title track twenty times. Yes, so pick it up asap.

Rubies are a folky, artsy, awesome type of band. They have a a changing line up depending on the city, but made up mostly of singer Simone Rubi and bassist Terri Loewenthal. They've got a happy-go-lucky vibe that's bound to make even the most bitter cynic whip out their foolish little smile. Definitely check out their video to "Diamonds On Fire" from their out-now debut album "Explode From The Center."

I have so much to write about, but the only thing I can think about at this very moment is the blazing, amazing, fantastic new Madonna track "Celebration." I have, no joke, played it for an hour straight since I heard the full track this morning. It sort of makes me forget all about the pop tragedy that was "Hard Candy." You did good Madge, you did very good. Also the teaser for her new greatest hits collection is pretty rad.
So tired from last night it's ridiculous, although sadly not for the reasons I should be. Yes Tequila helped me make friends again and the food was amazing, like mind blowingly good pozole; but unfortunately last night was definitely filled with a series of unfortunate events. Well for starters my uncle got the date mixed up for my cousin Karina's quinceañera, it was Friday night not Saturday. So sadly even though I was on cloud fucking nine for this party, it was not to be. It was going to be an awesome party, well technically it was an awesome party; the invitations tell you, her's were very, very cool.

So we ending up just going to her house for a dinner party which was actually really fun, everyone was telling me about the party, showing photos, videos, drinking, smiling fun, her grandma had so much fun she started stripping, true story, unfortunately it took a really crazy turn, her grandma starting chocking on some peppers and then I really don't know when it turned so grim, but next thing I know she was on the floor my aunts freaking out screaming she's dead, one of my uncles who's a doctor was pumping her chest, it was all very surreal, for about a half hour it was complete and utter chaos. Thankfully her grandma is fine, she was taken to the hospital they said she was stable and should be out today. It was just a weird night, that thankfully ended with everyone laughing about how crazy they acted when it happened. I'm now watching Bring It On in Spanish to relax; yes, it's better with awful dubbing.
The sun finally came back to Mexico City, although personally I wouldn't mind if it went away for the day. I went to a quinceañera last night for the daughter of my uncle's friend, who he hasn't seen in ten years, so suffice to say I didn't know anyone, luckily tequila makes everyone best friends. Since I'm pretty much being a major couch potato for the day till I go to my cousin's quinceañera tonight, oh yeah back to back bangers, I figured I'd just post a random post to help me waste some time and do a little list of my favorite pictures of the week.

The two pictures from Sea of Shoes are so amazingly beautiful to me. I've always wanted to go to Tokyo so I ate up every picture she posted from her trip.

Doing my daily scoping of all my favorite music blogs, and I stumbled upon this stomper of a club jam. I mean really I wasn't expecting such a hot dance track from none other than "Destiny's Child" outcast LeToya. I dare you to not dance to it, you know you want to.
Also, how about the new Mariah Carey track?! Damn girl talk about a ego anthem, but I do love it in all it's auto-tuned majesty.
So further proof Mexico is blowing my socks off... the 1969's "Modisto de Señoras." After a few whiskey + cokes too many, I'm totally drinking age here so do not judge hateful person, I'm finding this movie to be completely hilarious, but pretty much everything else is completely hilarious at this current moment. The movie is about a gay designer who is actually straight but might be gay or maybe bisexual fuck maybe asexual, feel free to take the time to put your socks back on, and the silliness that ensues as he tries to knock the boots with all the models. I can't even say what it is that I love most though, the porn-stache, the über effeminate gestures, the fact that he invents words as the movie rolls on, or the fact he says when he was a baby his mother put him to sleep to stripper music.
I declare that Mexico has some of the best commercials ever. Okay, I might be a little biased but watch the commercial for shampoo below. Maybe it's not the grandest + most epic thing in the world, but it's sure as shit more interesting than watching some girl twirl around for 30 seconds with impossibly silky + shiny mutant hair, I mean in this commercial the girl only does it for like three.
I woke up this morning from probably the weirdest + most fantastic dream. From what I can remember it involved the cast of Saved By The Bell + the Spice Girls. Don't remember what actually went on in it but I know there was a lot of singing... and bright colored clothes... and glitter, always a good thing to have whatever the occasion.
One of my favorite songs from the Spice Girls has always been the sans Giner track "Holler." I always loved how Posh cold manage to look constipated throughout the entire video, even during her "fantasy," but who could blame her, what's sexy about wind? "Holler holler holler holler come on."
